With JavaScript enabled, this site allows you to see the following data layers of current conditions:
- Current fire locations and sizes, updated daily
- Air quality index including wildfire smoke conditions, updated daily
- Hotspots from satellite data for the past 48 hours
- Lightning strikes and locations for the past 36 hours
- Current fire danger ratings across the state of Alaska
In addition, the tool provides historical landscape and fire data as well as projected data from climate model outputs.
- Land cover classification
- Historical prevalence of lightning across interior Alaska
- Boundaries of historical fires since 1940
- Projected and modeled baseline flammability from the ALFRESCO landscape model, using CMIP5 climate model forcings
